Computer Fix It Software

When things go wrong, and they will from time to time, choices have to be made.

You can call for a technician, it can be expensive and you may have to wait.

By sorting out the problem yourself you save the cost, the delay, and you learn from the experience. It may not be as bad as you think and theres the satisfaction you get from solving your own problems.

The tool kit can start very small and if you become an enthusiast at solving your own problems, and those of your family and friends, then your knowledge and probably your computer fix it software will increase.

The computer fix it software that you require for these emergencies can be free, low cost, or at the very least less than a technicians hourly rate. That doesnt mean you will never need skilled help, but you may be surprised at how many problems you can solve yourself.

Routine maintenance will often prevent many of the situations that become emergencies.

The approach in this article is strictly non technical. We believe in making full use of computer fix it software that solves many problems. On the very rare occasions they dont work, then you should hand it over to the professionals or use a helpful free and friendly forum such as Tech Guy - http://www.techguy.org

One of the areas that often causes problems is the Windows registry. If you start getting error messages, system crashes or the computer getting slower, then theres a good case for using registry repair software. Causes of a Windows registry problem can be frequent installation and un-installation of programs, incomplete programs that did not install or un-install correctly, hardware installation and un-installation, unused and corrupted drivers.

I spend a lot of time on the internet, so every day I run a registry repair software package. It backs up the current settings and then removes all the rubbish that a days surfing has added to the registry. Its a two button exercise, one to start the back up of the current settings and another to remove the junk it has found, it couldnt be easier. Look at the reviews of the different packages and learn more about it at: http://registry-repair-software-review.toptenreviews.com

Sometimes its better to stop a problem before it even gets started, thats the role of respected computer fix it software called WinPatrol

WinPatrol alerts you to hijackings, malware attacks and critical changes made to your computer without your permission. It does this by taking a snapshot of your system resources and stops changes that dont meet with your approval. It also stops that accumulation of useless clutter that chokes and slows your computers performance. You can find more on this reliable software at http://www.winpatrol.com/

During the learning curve that everyone goes through I made mistakes, and I was not aware of all the reliable help thats available free or at low cost. This lack of knowledge and experience has resulted in computer crashes that have lost me massive amounts of data. Yet if I had taken one simple precaution, I could have smiled and put it all together again but I didnt. Its a painful lesson and one thats never going to happen to me again.In spite of all the data I have permanently lost, I still hated backing up. Theres always something else I have to do first.

But the problems now solved as everythings automatically backed up over the Internet for $5 a month. Once I had downloaded the program it organised everything but it gave me choices on what was to be backed up. Quantity isn't a problem it's still $5 a month no matter how much data, photos, documents, music, emails, whatever. If I have a problem or a catastrophe such as a failed hard drive I know everythings still available. The program can immediately restore a single file or everything; it automatically restores files to their original folders. More information can be found on this page: http://www.2ndjobshopping.com/backup.html

Computers dont need to rest but I do, so whenever I take a break I spend a couple of minutes setting up something to keep it usefully occupied. These tasks can include disk cleanup, disk defragmenter both of which can be accessed on Windows by going to: all programs > accessories > systems tools > disk cleanup or disk defragmenter. Other tasks that your computer fix-it software can run - the virus checker or it can seek out and remove spyware and adware.

Files on your hard disc frequently change, new ones installed, old ones deleted, this results in gaps of various sizes appearing on your hard drive and why de-fragmenting is so important.

De-fragmenting your hard drive can take a long time, but it's important because it can speed up your computer and gain disk space. It reorganizes the files on your hard drive so that they can be accessed more quickly.

You can automate the de-fragmenting by using software such as Diskeeper - http://www.diskeeper.com I recently installed this on my computer and set it to automatic. All that I hear from time to time - some disc activity as it de-fragments. Its more efficient than the Windows version and it means the drive, the slowest component in your computer, will always be optimally de-fragmented. Its well worth considering if you want a fast efficient computer.

Why not ditch the routine, automate the boring and use that extra time for doing something creative, something you want to do. It's easy to get your computer to be fast, efficient and crash free if you look after it. But don't burden yourself with having to remember all those maintenance chores, just automate it.

Seek out the Computer Fix It Software that suits your requirements, some of it will be free and most will give you a free trial period to see if you like it.

Save money and speed up your computer by using low cost, or free, computer fix it software.

Your 'No' Could Mean 'Yes' To A Trojan

Similar to viruses, Trojans copy, distribute and kill your data. Obviously since you would never permit these actions, Trojans do not bother to ask for your permission.

Trojans are deceptive programs which don't take no for an answer. Any keystroke means yes to them. They are mainly designed to steal your data from your pc. But if you have antispyware guarding your pc, you need not worry.

What Are Trojans?

Basically Trojans appear quite harmless. They quietly enter your computer, either as email attachments or bundled in with other software programs. They are a kind of spyware. Spyware works by keeping track of what you do when you browse the web without you being aware of it. It is quite irritating and can cause major problems if you don't use any antispyware program to keep your pc clean.

Trojans are one of the worst kinds of spyware that eventually destroy your data after stealing it. There are some Trojans called remote administration tools, which permit access to your computer every time you log in - and you won't even know it. Whoever accesses your pc can easily pick up files from your system, remove or add programs, and even control your keystrokes.

How Trojans Land Into Your PC

Similar to viruses, Trojans copy, distribute and kill your data. Obviously since you would never permit these actions, Trojans do not bother to ask for your permission. The spyware installer does not care about the means used to rob your data. It is well known that there are many Internet marketers who trick you into installing certain software bundled in with Trojan spyware into your computer. They use a pop up ad to attract you, and then as if you want to install it. Whether you say yes or no is irrelevant. Even if you say no, they follow up with another pop up ad to ask if you are really sure. In spite of clicking no, your keystroke simply sets off a download into your computer without your being aware of it.

Drive by downloads are a common method for Trojan spyware to sneak in to your pc. Here is what happens - you browse a website and see a popup asking if you want to download something and the way it asks you, you sometimes end up saying yes, thinking that you need to download it to look at the web page. So when you say yes, it looks like you are allowing the download. If you say no, you are hounded by pop ups that wait for you to just click to start off the download, making it happen without your knowledge.

Everyday there are new ways being devised by spyware installers to get into your system. Get antispyware software to control this and keep your pc free of spies!

E! True ZX Games Story: Boulder Dash

Boulder Dash, released in 1984, is in no way balderdash. Please do not take the "we do not like pun" high horse here as in terms of this article it has to do with the history of invention.

Here is couple of quick facts about the Boulder Dash story:

* Peter Liepa, who is credited as the game creator, studied Physics just like Douglas Smith (http://www.zxgames.com/en/loderunnerstory.shtml).
* Unlike Lode Runner's creator, Peter did not become quick- and super-rich.

So, here is the story

* Game Inventors: Peter Liepa, Chris Gray
* Occupation at the time of invention: Peter Liepa - unemployed; Chris Gray - unknown
* Location at the time of invention: Canada.

The game concept and its realization seem to be simple (at least in terms of modern technologies). However Boulder Dash's cookbook is composed of one man's versatile interests and another man's idea.

Fascination with animation

Born in 1953 in Ottawa, as a kid Peter aspired to be an animator or special effects designer on the one side, and a particle physicist on the other. He had to drop the latter as he found it too practical and fuzzy and thought there was vague future for particle Physics. The incentive for animation, on the other hand, lived with Peter until there was the right time to let it out.

Fascination with computers

When in high school, Peter was sent to the National Research Council of Canada for a week as part of an internship program. He had to work in a physics lab, Peter's supervisor had a shiny new Wang Calculator and it arrested the young intern's attention. In the same week all interns were taken on a tour of the Council's computer center. Amazed by what he saw, Peter asked to spend the rest of his internship time there. At the computer center there was an interactive terminal, which in those days was something similar to Teletype or IBM Selectric hooked up to a central mainframe. Peter quickly learned to program it, but after the end of week's internship there was no opportunity to study computers for a long time. In those days, the concept of personal computers was unimaginable.

Peter started off in Physics in university, but soon switched to math. His summer jobs were in computer programming, and he spent a lot of time playing early things like Conway's Game of Life, which printed results on paper and had not digital screen whatsoever.

Fascination with human nature

After graduating in math, Peter drifted around studying subjects like human memory and perception. He received a master's degree in Control Theory. Both Control Theory and knowledge of human nature are another key points in what was later to become the cult game.

Another man's idea

When Peter was in his late twenties, he visited a friend of his, who was deeply into electronic toys and had a large screen TV and an Atari 400. Peter spent several evenings playing games, and then had a "I can do this" flash. He went out and bought an Atari 800 to start writing games. But rather than just starting to write a game, Peter thought it would be prudent to contact a local game publisher to see what sort of game might be in demand.

The publisher put Peter in touch with Chris Gray, who had submitted a game in Basic, but did not have the skills to convert it into machine language. The game was similar to an arcade game called The Pit, but after examining it more, Peter found that the game had very few game play variations - too much of it was predetermined.

The development

Not satisfied with Chris' game algorithm, Peter started playing with basic elements of dirt, rocks and jewels and within a couple of days had built the basic "physics engine" of what was to become Boulder Dash. He realized that using a random number generator one could generate random caves, and that by controlling the density of rocks and jewels one could get some interesting game play. The game play fascinated not only from a puzzle standpoint, but it also appealed to various emotional drives - the obvious psychotic ones like greed (collecting jewels), destructiveness (dislodging rocks and killing fireflies) and the neurotic ones like cleaning all the dirt out of a cave.

Chris and Peter lived quite far apart, so that their meetings were infrequent and involved a long drive. It turned out quite quickly that their design goals and methods were fairly incompatible. Peter was developing a game quite different from Chris' original, and did so just about completely on his own. Peter designed all of the elements, physics, caves, the game play, the graphics, the music, and the title. Chris helped out with a few odds and ends - he suggested, for example, how to make the graphics for the game title by composing big letters out of the Atari character graphics. In the end, there was a lot of debate as to how exactly Chris should be credited and what his share of royalties should be.

The working title of the game for a long time was Cavern Raider, and several other variants like Cavern Crystals. Eventually Peter came up with the name Boulder Dash, which is a takeoff on the word balderdash. Coincidentally, a board game named Balderdash was also published in 1986.

The game's main character - Rockford.

Originally, in the early physics engine stage, Rockford was just a static shape similar to a cross. When one moved the shape, it dug through the earth and absorbed jewels. In fact, the graphics were very simple, and elements were all single characters in a 24x40 character display. There was no scrolling in the early versions of the game. It was Chris who suggested that the digging shape should be a "man", and together they came up with a simple human shape. When Peter showed an early version of the game to a potential publisher, they pointed out the "the man" was way too small and needed to be a more recognizable character. But it was not possible to make "the man" more prominent without making everything larger as well. So this was where the hard work began of converting the game from one that ran on a 24x40 character display to one that scrolled over a much larger region.

Now that the game elements were bigger, Peter was able to add much more detail, including making "the man" more recognizable. He built a character editor to work out the pixels and the animation. It was at this point that the Rockford character took shape. Rockford was not supposed to be any particular kind of human or animal, he just evolved in the pixel editor. Since Peter used to be interested in animation, he worked out the character to make Rockford blink his eyes and tap his feet. This was an innovation that added a lot of depth to the character.

The result

Overall, it took Peter about 6 months to finish the first version of Boulder Dash with no more than 2 hours of actual work per day.

Even though Boulder Dash was finished in half a year, it took another six months to find a publisher and work out a publication agreement. By this time Peter was already full time employed at a company that developed word processing software.

And so, the rest is history - Boulder Dash was eventually published by First Star in 1984 and was an instant bestseller.

Having survived for over two decades on the market, the game is still here to fascinate us. You are always welcome play our remake of Boulder Dash (http://www.zxgames.com/en/boulderdash.shtml), which is as close to the original as possible and needs no emulators to run.

Where is Chris Gray now?

We have no idea.

Where is Peter Liepa now?

Peter works in software development at a company named Alias, which produces 3D software for design and entertainment.

Tips For Data Recovery

Anytime your hard drive crashes or you lose your data, youll need to turn to data recovery to properly restore your information. Data recovery is something most computer users are familiar with, as a majority of us have had to turn to data recovery at some point in time. Even though hard drives are becoming better and better, they are still mechanical and will always encounter problems.

The first thing to do, before any problems happen, is to always back up your data. If you create backups of your information, youll be well prepared in the event of a disaster. This way, even if your hard drive cannot be repaired and the data is lost forever, youll have the back ups to continue going as normal. If you didnt make back ups, youll find the situation very traumatic when you discover that your data cannot be recovered.

Most hard drives will last for years before they start to encounter any type of malfunction or hardware problems. You can help prevent data loss by turning off your computer when it isnt in use, or shutting it down when you hear the hard drive making an odd noise. If the hard drive starts to malfunction, letting it continue to run will only do more damage. If you shut it off immediately and take it to a specialist, youll have a much better chance of getting it repaired.

With natural disasters, hackers, viruses, or other problems, you wont have the time to react. Before you know it, your hard drive will be damaged and your data will be gone. Although this can be very frustrating, data recovery can normally bring your information back. All you need to do is take the hard drive to a local specialist, then let them work their magic and show you the power of data recovery.

There are software programs out there that claim to recover lost data, although you should avoid them at all costs. Most of time, these software programs will do your hard drive more bad than good. Even though software may cost a lot less than professional data recovery services, the professional services will guarantee their work. If you turn to software and it only makes things worse - your more or less out of luck, as the software doesnt guarantee anything.

Anytime your hard drive fails and you seem to have lost your data, you should turn to professional data recovery services immediately. They may cost you a lot of money, although they do the job right the first time. When it comes to your data, you really dont want to take any chances - especially if you had important documents and files stored on your hard drive.

Be Big, Do Big, Have Big

A number of my coaching clients are small business owners. They are like the majority of small business owners in the world They have a small business which they dream of turning into a large businesssomeday.

During one of my recent sessions, a client pointed to several companies that had blossomed overnight (really within one to two years) and were doing hundreds of millions or even billions of dollars in business in a very short time.

He then asked me what I thought was the secret to their rapid success.

I think first and foremost many of these companies subscribe to the concept of what is currently called Blue Ocean Strategy, which is the name of a recent book on marketing strategies.

However, the world is filled with great ideas, and good plans and strategies to make the ideas come to life. It is actually executing those plans and strategies that separates an eBay from a what was your name again?

So, if the world is filled with good ideas, and it is also filled with plans and strategies to bring those ideas to life, why arent more people executing those plans and strategies and creating billion dollar businesses?

The answer is one word: Conditioning.

Most of us have been conditioned since birth to get real, get serious, stop dreaming, get a job and basically live out the so-called American Dream.

Our parents, siblings, friends, teachers, politicians, religious leaders and even media figures have unwittingly created generations of people who are conditioned to accept what is given to them rather than to go for what they really desire.

Every great company started with a great dream, but most people have been conditioned to let go of their dreams, take the easy path, get a 9 to 5 job, put money into the 401K, vacation 2 weeks a year, struggle to pay the kids college tuition, work their way up the corporate ladder, and hope that when they retire theyll be able to survive between the 401K, Social Security and downsizing to a small condo.

Simply, we have been made to FEAR our dreams. We have been taught that thinking big and trying to achieve big things is for other people; as if those other people are endowed with some secret power that we mortals can only dream of having.

Sounds ridiculous, right? And it is.

Whats worse is that when we do start to dream a little, we make a huge mistake. We go and talk to our family, friends, coworkers, etc. about our dream, because we are hoping for encouragement.

Trying to save us from the pain of certain failure our family, friends, etc. kindly point every single reason why the idea wont work, why we are uniquely UNQUALIFIED to attempt such an idea and why we should just give up now and go back to the way things have been.

Well, Im here to tell you to forget that nonsense!

Despite what everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, has told you, you can have the business youve always wanted, the home youve always wanted and the lifestyle youve always wanted. But to get all this, you must first get past the fear that has been conditioned into you.

So, you are probably thinking, Sounds great, Erik, but how do I get past the fear? Simple: Be, Do, Have.

If your conditioning is like most people, then you have been conditioned to DO first. This means that you have been conditioned to work hard in the hopes that you can someday HAVE some of the items you want. Then, at this point, you can BE the person you wanted to be (a millionaire, a business owner, etc.).

This process is back-ass-wards.

Think about this, who takes millionaire actions - Millionaires or poor people? Why the answer is simple: Millionaires of course. Yet, if you believed the DO HAVE BE method, only millionaires could be millionaires and NO ONE else ever could be.

Seriously consider that concept. If you have to get a million dollars before you can get the mindset necessary to get a million dollars, youll never get a million dollars. It is the ultimate catch-22. And you lose either way.

But if you BE a millionaire first in your mind and in your beliefs then you will be able to DO the actions necessary to HAVE a million dollars.

This process does not require years of hard labor, paying your dues or earning the right. It simply requires a shift in your mindset.

One easy exercise to help you start changing your mindset is to look at how much you are earning per year right now. Then add a ZERO to the end of that number.

Who would you have to BE in order to earn that much money in one year? You obviously could not be who you are now, because that person can only earn one/tenth of the amount you are now considering.

What would a person who earns ten-times what youre earning right now DO in order to make that much money? Obviously, they have a completely different set of priorities and activities than you do.

What would a person who earns ten-times your current salary HAVE? Well, they could certainly buy a lot more stuff then you can right now.

I personally feel that this shift in mindset is VITALLY IMPORTANT if you truly want to see a change in your business and your life.

Be Big. Do Big. Have Big. And always Dream Big!

How To Start And Maintain A Cleaning Business

There are many people today who have the desire to run their own business. Doing so can be rewarding and fulfilling, but it also takes hard work. I say this from experience because my husband and I have been running our own cleaning business for the past 5 years and it was not an easy task. There was alot to learn and really there remains alot to learn. How do I get started? What type of experience do I need to have? How do I get and keep clients? These were some of the questions that we had to answer as we started our business. Now, I know that every individual is different and no one thing applies to every person. That having been said, I'd like to give you an idea of our my husband and I started our cleaning business. Hopefully there will be something from our experience that will help you with your business venture.

The first thing we did was decide that we wanted to start a cleaning business. I know that may sound strange because if your reading this article, your obviously interested in starting a cleaning business. But, there is a big difference between being interested in and making the decision to stick with starting your own business. We had to make a firm decision about starting our business and get serious about it. Once we did that, it became easier to do research on what to do to get started. My husband's mom had already had her own cleaning business for many years so we decided to ask her what it was like. She explained that the main way she got her clients was through word of mouth. We have learned that if your good at something, people usually take notice. Ask around to other people that use a cleaning service and you'll probably discover that what most people want is someone trustworthy, reliable and thourough. It might be a good idea to ask friends and neighbors what they would want in a cleaning service so that you can try to develop those qualities.

Another thing you'll want to consider is how much time and money you can invest into getting your business started. If you work full or part time, how much time can you spend on getting your business off the ground? You'll also want to find out what the licensing requirements are for your area and what business laws you'll have to abide by. Consider the cost of these things and if you can afford to lose that amount of money if your business doesn't take off as quickly as you'd like it to. Having some business cards and fliers made up (or making them yourself) is another expense to consider. We did this and put an ad in the local paper in order to get our name out there. You may want to try this as well as passing out fliers and business cards in your local area. Consider too the cost of cleaning supplies. Will you be providing your own or will the client pay for them? Also, consider who will do your accounting and taxes. I was the main one in-charge of this aspect of the business and I found it helpful to use tax software that I was comfortable with. You may want to do it yourself or hire a professional. Depending on what type of cleaning business you start, there are many other costs to consider. Will you focus on cleaning just residences or will you venture into commercial cleaning, move-outs, new construction, windows, or floors? We decided to start advertising with local apartment complexes to do move-out cleaning. This really helped us to get our foot in the door, gain experience and have references to use for obtaining more work in the future. Eventually, we headed into residential cleaning and now our focus is on commercial cleaning. Take the time to really think about what aspect of the cleaning business you would like to pursue and consider the cost of getting started.

Now we come to the area of pricing. My husband and I called around to some local cleaning companies to get an idea of what the going rate was. We found that many companies in our area were charging an hourly rate so, we came up with an idea of how much we wanted to make an hour and set our prices based on that. We wanted to stay competitive with the local companies but at the same time, give the clients a good deal. When we started cleaning apartments, we thought about how long it would take us to clean each type of apartment and then decided on a flat rate. This worked out pretty good because eventually, we were able to work much faster and thereby make more an hour. Our clients really appreciated fast and thourough work and so they were willing to pay the rates we charged them. We advertised to more that one apartment complex so that we could have steady work. This really helped us because in our case, the work was sometimes slow with one apartment complex and steady with another. Remember, any type of contractor work can have slow times so be prepared in case work does start to dry up.

What I consider to be one of the most important parts of the cleaning business is customer relations. Keeping the client happy is good for business. We have had many clients ask us to do extra things and depending on what it was, we gladly took on the work, sometimes not charging extra for it just to keep the client happy. Now, I'm not saying that you have to do extra work pro bono everytime. You'll have to decide for yourself what your comfortable with. Just remember that a happy client makes for a more solid business. Important things to consider that will make the client happy is doing the work thouroughly, being efficient, being on-time and being respectful. Everyone appreciates doing business with honest and hard workers so keep this in mind as you work on the relationship with your clients. Many times we obtained clients because the previous cleaning company they used were not doing a very good job or weren't willing to do extra work and we quickly proved that we could do a great job at a reasonable price. This helped the client to see that we were a trustworthy company that they could depend on. Being dependable is a key quality that you'll want to develop in your cleaning business.

Now, I know there are many subjects I haven't covered such as major marketing plans, keeping records of each client whether to have a dedicated phone just for work and so forth. I couldn't possibly cover everything in one article. But, I do hope that I've given you some good imformation to start with that will help you in starting your business. My husband and I have learned that the best thing you can do is RESEARCH. Ask questions, read articles like this one and others that pertain to the cleaning business. I truly believe that you can never know enough and that there's always room for improvement. Remember, if your determined and willing to invest yourself and your resources, you too can start and maintain a successful cleaning business.

Choosing A Graphics Card

To the uninformed consumer, buying a new graphics card can be a daunting task. There are literally hundreds of different aspects to consider when buying a new card, and we've composed this article to help you find the graphics card that best suits your needs and your budget.

- The first major thing to consider when purchasing a card is the type of chip that you want. The main two companies that market graphics card chips are Nvidia and ATI, and pretty much every graphics card available features a chip from one of these two manufacturers. The chip of the card is of utmost importance; different graphic cards with the same type of chip often feature similar performance levels.

- Next, you're going to want to consider the amount of memory that your future video card will have. The more RAM that is in a graphics card, the more it can process, giving it more speed and smoother transitioning.

- You're also going to want to consider the possible multimedia applications of your future card. TV-out is one type of feature incorporated into graphics card that is commonly sought-after. TV-out compatible graphics cards allow you to hook your computer up to your television, allowing for the viewing of movies and other general purpose features shown on your TV screen. Another feature that is gaining popularity in the graphics card world is dual-head support. Dual-head support allows for you to use two separate monitors side-by-side with your windows toolbar stretching across the two screens.

- When it comes to spending money, you can get a sub-par graphics card for less than $70. However, those who are looking for a decent graphics card that can hold its own for a few years to come, you're probably going to want to spend around $200. Top-of-the-line graphics cards are available and are priced upwards of $600. While the chips are cutting edge, they're usually not too much more noticeably efficient than those priced slightly lower. Performance will increase, without a doubt, but you won't see the same kind of effects as opposed to buying a $300 chip over a $150 one.

Now that you know more about graphic cards, you can more easily find one to suit your needs while sticking to your budget. Only buy the features that you find necessary; you can spend a lot of extra money unnecessarily by being coaxed in by bells and whistles.

Domains Names & Web Design

Needless to say for many aspects of working online you will need your own website. Depending on what you want to do it is not always possible to function without one.

If you are going to be working as an affiliate or are considering doing freelancing or data entry then you may be able to get away without one but for everything else you will need to build a website. But, its ok, I am here to tell you that that doesnt have to be as frightening a prospect as it may at first seem.

There are many people who will build your website for you and not all of them will cost an arm and a leg although the price does vary depending on what you want.

The other option of course, is to build the site yourself and although this is not something that you will be able to do over night there is a lot of technology and software out there that will help you do just that. Again the prices can vary dramatically depending on what you want to do but there are also a lot of free resources if you look.

But before you get to building your site you need to have a name for it. I once received some very good advice about deciding on a name for your site and it was this Just get on with it

Many people find themselves suffering from whats known as Analysis Paralysis. We so desperately want to come up with a success sounding name that we spend days deciding what to call ourselves only to find when we go to register it that it has already been taken.

How to choose your domain name:

Consider this:

1.What does your business do?
2.Who does it do it for?
3.What is you unique selling position in other words what have you got that the others havent that will make people want to come to you?
4.What is your name?

The last one may seem a bit odd but Ill get back to that in just a minute. After considering the first 3 points come up with a list of several names that you could use and then take them to a domain registrar and see which ones are available for you to use.

Prices dont vary too wildly but it is worth a look around.

.com names are among the most expensive and with good reason, as it is the first extension that people will type if they are unsure of your full address and also the most professional sounding. Stay away from cheaper more obscure extensions they may not cost as much but you need to consider what kind of image you want to portray to your customers.

Almost all domain registration services will offer free extras such as domain and email forwarding, if the company you are using doesnt offer these basic add ons then say thank you and move on to one that does.

4. What is your name?

There is one domain name you should definitely register and that is yourname.com.

Why? Because branding yourself in your market is a brilliant way of letting people know not only who you are and what you do but also that you are very serious about it and take pride in your position. Think about it, would you want your name branded on something that wasnt up to par, and thats exactly how your customers are going to see it too Oh, Denise has put her name to this so she must think it is a quality product/service

And as long as it is a high quality item your name will become synonymous with quality in your field.

Warning: some domain registrars, upon closing your account due to spam complaints, missed payments or any other reason will retain the name that you purchased and assume ownership of it. Meaning that you will not be able to re-register it anywhere else and so will loose all the traffic that you may have spent months directing to that address. As with all things be sure to read the small print its small for a reason.

Ok so now that you have your name its time to choose your web host.

Quite often this can be one I the same provider and so if you are going to use your registered name as the address for your site then be sure to register it with them as it saves you having to transfer things over at a later date.

So what do you need from your web host?

It is essential to know that whatever goes wrong with your site there will be someone that you can contact, preferably by phone 24 hours a day 7 days a week. There is nothing worse than sending a helpdesk ticket for support and not receiving a response for 3 days, and the best way to find out how good the support system is, is to ask their customers. Visit forums and ask questions or search articles and read reviews also ask your friends and colleagues who they use and if they would recommend them.

Building Your Site

As I mentioned before there are many people out there that will build your site for you. All you need to do is give them the details and the premise and they will take on all the technical work for you. To have your website professionally designed and built from scratch can cost you anywhere from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars. And there are many places where you can find companies to do it for you.

However if you like a challenge and have basic computer capabilities it is perfectly feasible that you can build your own site depending on just what you want it to be.

If you decide to take the challenge on yourself then my first suggestion would be to find some help, support and guidance. If you are quite new to web design there will be many things that can throw you and if you dont have someone to ask it can become frustrating. Again joining a forum is one of the best ways to find help from like minded people or you can just use the power of the web to find a place where you feel comfortable enough to ask.

There are some things that you will need:

A domain name Clear, concise and easy to remember. Also be careful with names that people can easily misspell.

A web host Good customer support is essential. Also check uptime and bandwidth.

Web page templates Depending on your products/services your site should have a certain consistent feel to it all the way through.

Html editor software Html is a very complicated language, if you dont know it or dont want to learn then you will need software that can do it for you. There are lots of free programmes.

Ftp software This is how you get your site from your desktop to your server. All FTP software is basically the same but if you are new then stick with the more basic versions until you figure out what youll need the rest for.

Header, footer and other graphics All websites need graphics of some kind. There are packages that you can buy online and edit to your liking or you can spend around $60 - $100 and get the basics done for you.

Those are the very bare basics that you need to be able to start building your site, you will also need to consider e-commerce, download protection, and a few other factors depending on what your site will do.

Questions about Metal Buildings

Variety, durability, recycling ability and flexibility have made metal buildings the superior ones in comparison to other buildings. An ever-increasing demand, several advantages and being in-fashion does not mean that companies, organizations or consumers have no questions about steel buildings. Here is an attempt to answer most of them.

What makes metal building strong?

Metal buildings are stronger than wooden or stone buildings was best testified when 200-miles-per-hour winds struck America in the form of Katrina. While others buildings collapsed like a pack of cards, metal buildings weathered the storm.

The reason is the unique metal structure. In a metal atom, particles are closely packed in a crystal structure. This gives metal their strength and resistance against heat.

Are metal buildings better than the wooden ones?

Of course, yes. Metal buildings have several advantages over their wooden counterparts. Metal buildings are better because:

1. Construction of metal buildings involves no waste.
2. They are heat-resistant.
3. They are insect-resistant.
4. Metal buildings have low maintenance costs.

Are metal buildings costlier compared to others?

Not at all. In fact, metal buildings are more cost-effective. Although the price of metals keeps on fluctuating, on an average, a metal building cost half of what a wooden building would cost.

How much would I pay for getting a prefabricated metal building erected?

Nothing. Yes, amazing as it sounds. You can erect your metal building yourself! Professional dealers would provide you with dismantled materials which are marked components along with a guidebook to assist you as to how you should go about it. But if you do want an assistant, a contractor can help you.

Are all types of metal the same?

Beware of dealers who try to drive home the point that all metals are of the same quality to persuade you to buy a cheaper metal. The reality is that even the same metal can vary in quality. It is advisable to go to authentic companies to buy your metal building material and investigate before buying anything.

I own a glass factory. I have several very large glass manufacturing machines and thus require a very high ceiling. Can metal buildings work for me?

Metal buildings are prefabricated nowadays. So all you need to do is place your order with a professional contractor stating your requirements clearly for your new metal building. Being a glass factory, a lot of heat will be generated indoors. While other building materials might be susceptible to heat, metal buildings can withstand very high temperatures as well.

Is Essential Hypertension A Danger to Your Health?

If your blood pressure reading is 140/90, you have high blood pressure (essential hypertension). Blood pressure measurements are read as two numbers. The higher number is called the systolic pressure. The lower number is called the diastolic pressure. Normal systolic pressure is 120 or less, and normal diastolic pressure is 80 or less.

People with systolic pressures between 120 and 139, or diastolic pressures of 80 to 89 are considered "pre-hypertensive" and need medical monitoring and lifestyle changes.

High blood pressure puts stress on the heart, lungs, brain, kidneys, and blood vessels. Over time, it can damage these organs and tissues.

What Are The Causes?

By definition, the cause of essential hypertension is not known, but medical monitoring and lifestyle changes can help prevent it.

What Are the Risk Factors?

A risk factor is something that increases your chance of getting a disease or condition. Risk factors for high blood pressure include:

* Sex:
- Male
- Postmenopausal female
* Race: Black
* Age: Middle-aged and older
* Overweight
* Heavy alcohol consumption
* Smoking
* Use of oral contraceptives (birth control pills)
* Sedentary lifestyle
* Family history
* Kidney disease
* Diabetes
* High-fat, high-salt diet
* Emotional stress

What Will The Symptoms Be?
High blood pressure usually does not cause symptoms. Many people have it and don't even suspect it. Your organs and tissues can be damaged by high blood pressure without your feeling any symptoms.

Blood pressure (BP) must reach extreme levels before symptoms can be noticed. Occasionally, people with very high BP may experience the following symptoms:

* Headache
* Blurry or double vision
* Abdominal pain
* Chest pain
* Shortness of breath
* Dizziness

Is There A Diagnosis?

High BP is often diagnosed during a visit to the doctor. Blood pressure is measured using the familiar cuff around the arm and a device called a sphygmomanometer. If your BP reading is high, you'll be asked to come back for repeat blood pressure checks. If you have two or more visits with readings over 140/90, you will be diagnosed with high blood pressure.

Tests to make sure your high blood pressure is not caused by another medical condition and that it has not already caused complications include:

* Blood tests
* Urine tests
* Chest x-rays - a test that uses radiation to take a picture of structures inside the body
* Electrocardiogram (ECG, EKG)- a test that records the heart's activity by measuring electrical currents through the heart muscle

How Is High BP Treated?

A. Lifestyle Changes

1. Lose weight if necessary. Your health care provider can recommend a safe weight loss plan and a reasonable target weight.
2. Begin a safe exercise program based on the advice of your health care provider. In addition, try to add physical activity into your daily life.
3. Eat a low-fat, low-sodium, high-fiber diet, rich in fruits and vegetables, as recommended by your health care provider.
4. If you smoke, quit. There are additional health risks associated with smoking.
5. Drink alcohol in moderation. Moderate alcohol intake is no more than two drinks per day for men and one drink per day for women.
6. Consider counseling, stress reduction exercises, and meditation to decrease the stress in your life.

B. Medications to lower blood pressure include:

1. Diuretics
2. Beta blockers
3. Angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors (ACE inhibitors)
4. Calcium channel blockers
5. Alpha blockers
6. Alpha-beta blockers
7. Nervous system inhibitors
8. Vasodilators

Note: Untreated high blood pressure can lead to:

* Heart disease
* Heart attack
* Stroke
* Kidney damage

Use Prevention to reduce your chance of developing high blood pressure:

* Eat a healthful diet, one that is low in saturated fat and rich in whole grains, fruits, and vegetables.
* Exercise regularly.
* Maintain a healthy weight.
* Don't smoke. If you smoke, quit.
* Drink alcohol in moderation. Moderate alcohol intake is no more than two drinks per day for men and one drink per day for women.

Microsoft Great Plains Dynamics GP Texas ERP implementation notes

Microsoft Dynamics GP should be considered as flexible MRP platform, ready to be modified to fit mid-size company business processes. It has rich set of modules, supported by Microsoft as well as so-called third party modules, supported and developed by Microsoft ISV partners. In this small article we will not be discussing third party modules, instead we will try to give you highlights on the customization technology when out of the box or available on the market products needs to be tailored. Also we will try to specify some typical cases for Texas industries

Oil & Gas. Especially in Houston and along the Gulf of Mexico. One of the business features is high intensity of production fixed assets utilization - offshore platform, drill, wellheads are typically utilized 24x7 and at the same time they require regular maintenance, which in turn is expensive service. In Dynamics GP you will need custom extensions to Fixed Assets module. From logistics you need to be in compliance with string regulation and high safety standards. Capacity Recourse planning should be reflected, however it is not classical manufacturing, so more likely you will not need Manufacturing and standard CRP modules themselves

Dallas Startups. When we are talking about new businesses, or startups their business model is often unique (because it is really innovative) and standard MRP system simply doesnt fit to its operations, when we are talking about ERP functionality beyond Financials modules: GL, AR, AP. In some cases Microsoft Dynamics GP could be considered as the core or back end of CRM, eCommerce or other type of Business Management System. In this case we are talking about integration. In other cases, standard GP functionality might be uniquely extended to automate unique startup business processes.

Sea Shipping. Logistics & Warehouse management, cargo tracking businesses typically have legacy system, which was and still is in use for decades often sitting in UNIX: IBM DBII, Oracle, Sybase, etc. This would be good GP integration scenario typically this is eConnect or SQL cross-platform or heterogeneous distributed queries routines. Special reporting needs, such as Bill of Lading in our opinion is not as complex as it is sometimes referred ReportWriter, Crystal Report or MS SQL Server Reporting Services could do the job.

Customization Technologies. eConnect (with XML Web Service interfaces) fits Visual Studio Developer, Microsoft Dexterity (former Great Plains Dexterity) is more fundamental tools (GP architecture historically was based on GPS Dexterity) it requires profound GP structure knowledge and probably several years of GP software development, SQL Stored Pros require some familiarity with Microsoft Dexterity database modeling.

The Best Marathon Training Program

Has your fear of failure ever stopped you from doing something, and even convinced you that doing it would be stupid? Imagine the boost to your self esteem and your sense of accomplishment if you did it and you did succeed.

Have you ever wanted to run a marathon? Or do a triathlon? Or ride a bicycle 100 miles? Have you ever been flipping through the channels on the TV and come across, say, the New York City Marathon, and think to yourself, I wish I could do that, only to quickly dismiss the thought with I could never do that, or Im too _____ to do that, or I cant do that because I have.

There is a training program that, over the last 20 years, has trained more than 350,000 people just like you to successfully complete a half marathon, marathon, century bike ride or triathlon. Regardless of your lifestyle, barring extreme physical or medical impairment, this program can take you from couch potato to endurance athlete in five months.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Societys Team in Training (TNT) is an organization designed specifically for the purpose of training participants to be endurance athletes in exchange for the participants fundraising money which goes to research for the cure of blood cancers. TNT is the largest endurance training organization in the world, having raised over $700M in the last 20 years.

The key to TNTs success is the level of professionalism, knowledge and dedication of the staff, coaches and mentors (previous participants who have chosen to remain involved), and the desire of the participants to do something that saves lives and makes a difference, as well as enhances their own lives and self esteem.

Is it easy? No, but anything worth accomplishing generally takes work. Will TNT make you an endurance athlete? No, you will make you an endurance athlete. TNT will provide guidance, experience, knowledge and support. These things are key to your success.

The program starts out at a very basic level with a training schedule laid out for every week, taking you a step at a time up the endurance ladder, culminating with a local or national half or full marathon, century bike ride or triathlon. This program caters to all experience and ability levels. The success of the program lies in the fact that you dont do this alone. Your coaches, mentors and fellow participants are out there helping you, and you are helping them.

Along this journey you fundraise. Again, you have help from your mentors and staff. The minimum amount youre required to fundraise depends on the event you choose to go to, but a minimum of 75% of your fundraising amount goes directly to cancer research.

So, if youve ever wondered what you can do to make a difference, or if youve ever felt insignificant in this big, beautiful world, then this is your chance. You can make a HUGE difference. You can save lives, and that makes you a hero. Its happening every day, all over the globe. And you can improve your own health and self esteem in the process. Set your goals high. How do you know what you can accomplish if you dont try?

Visit www.teamintraining.com and find a chapter near you. Get started today. It will change your life.

Web design: What? When? How?

Design of web pages, websites and various web applications is known as web designing. Web designing also includes graphical user interface (GUI) designing using one of the HTML techniques along with CSS (Cascading Style Sheets). It is always intriguing to go back in time to figure out the origins from which our present has taken roots...

Lets take a tour back in time and see how the concept of web design came into being.

The seeds of internet technology were sown with the idea of sharing information on research and development in scientific and military fields in the US.

The work for converting this idea into reality, DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) was set up in 1960s.

Advanced Research Projects Agency Network (ARPANET), X.25 and public access and Unix to Unix CoPy (UUCP) were some of the networks developed between 1960s to 1980s that bought the internet technology alive. These networks were then connected with the help of various Communication Protocols like the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and the Internet Protocol (IP).

However during the same period i.e. 1969, Charles Goldfarb, Edward Mosher and Raymond Lorie produced the Generalized Markup Language (GML) which helped in managing text in large information systems.

American National Standards Institute committee published the Standard GML or SGML in 1980s. Standard GML or SGML was nothing but the working module of GML and was incorporated as the standard system by the government, researchers, universities and schools.

The first language of web designing was the mark up language which in due course of time became more complicated and was known as HTML (HyperText Markup Language). The first language for web designing was written by Tim Berners-Lee a scientist, working at CERN, the Nuclear Particle Physics Laboratory in Switzerland.

HTML was used in content that used table graphics, mathematical symbols etc. With the advent of CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) and server-side-scripting the web designing has come along way in terms of development.

Web designing has brought a revolution in the way businesses are being conducted around the world in the recent era. E-business is one such revolution. (Learn more about E- business in our article of E-business: The corporate mantra). Is Your Website Being Read? Why People Dont Read Your Web Page

As the world virtually shrinks into the window on your computer screen, the web site is the best and a must-have tool for any business. Not only can it reach a global audience, it will boost your local exposure exponentiallyat a minimal cost.

However, your business web site isnt, and shouldnt be, just an electronic version of your product/service brochure. It could also be another potential revenue-generating source.

Just like a printed brochure, your web site doesnt get read by your visitors from top to bottom. At least not initiallyand not until you get them interested in what you have to offer.

First Impression

As the saying goes,

You never get a second chance to make a first impression.

And nowhere is this truer than on the Web. Your prospects form an instant impression of you and your company the moment your home page displays onto their computer screens.

In a mouse click, your prospects determine who you are, how they feel about you, and decide if they want to do business with you. Is your web site creating the impression you want? Your business web site acts as a silent salesman for your business. Knowing this, wouldnt you want to dress it to WOW your customers?

Web Design vs Web Creation

Being able to draw doesnt make one an artist. Just as having written an essay doesnt make one a novelist. At least not without years of practice and training. Similarly, and with the widespread availability of professional software, you as a small business owner may choose to design-it-yourself (DIY). You may think you could create your own artwork, design a promotion flyer, build a web site.

However, to design something to visually communicate effectively and compellingly, you have to consider its clarity, font usage, readability.

Other things to consider are:

* Your business communications
* Branding and marketing mix

These are business communication problems to be addressed. You also need to consider its consistency, identity, colour, professionalism, integration, innovation and emotional impression.

Usability

Have you ever gone for a drive with a map someone else made and it is poorly drawn or just wrong? We all hate the frustration of getting lost. A difficult or inefficient navigation would break your web site as quickly and easily as it was created (by yourself). We evaluate the consistency, innovation, linkage, usability and presentation of the design.

We also evaluate the resolution requirements, complexity, consistency, usability to test the effectiveness of the web site layout.

How We Really Use the Web

In his book, Dont Make Me Think: A Common Sense Approach to Web Usability, web usability guru, Steve Krug, writes:

When were creating sites, we act as though people are going to pore over each page, reading our finely crafted text, figuring out how weve organized things, and weighing their options before deciding which link to click.

What they actually do most of the time (if were lucky) is glance at each new page, scan some of the text, and click on the first link that catches their interest or vaguely resembles the thing theyre looking for. There are usually large parts of the page that they dont even look at.

How we really use the web site

Krug adds that if one wants to design effective Web pages, there are three facts about real-world Web use to consider:

1) We dont read pages. We scan them.

Why? Because:

* Were usually in a hurry.
* We know we dont need to read everything.
* Were good at it.

2) We dont make optimal choices. We satisfice.

Why? Because:

* Were usually in a hurry.
* Theres not much of a penalty for guessing wrong.
* Weighing options may not improve our chances.
* Guessing is more fun.

3) We dont figure out how things work. We muddle through.

Why? Because:

* Its not important to us.
* If we find something that works, we stick to it.

Basic Affiliate Internet Marketing

All of us would love to make a little more money. Sometimes just a little to supplement an income can be a huge help. Today it is easier that you think to get a little extra cash in your bank accounts. Most of us today have our own personal websites. We can get them for free and use them as a method to keep others informed of what we are doing. You can actually turn your website into a way of making some extra cash for you. By placing some audio books on your site, you have the potential to earn some cash.

When people go onto your site, if they see an audio book that is interesting and purchase it, you receive what is known as a referral payment. Gradually your earnings will increase as your website gets viewed.

You're not likely going to get rich with just your own personal website. However, it is a way to get started. There may come a time when you create another site and you can start turning this into a money making venture as well. You could sign up for an affiliate program and make money through their ads. To do this well you need to think of an appropriate affiliate program that readers of your site would appreciate. For example, if you site is about pets, you may want to look for affiliates that work with pet supplies, pet food or veterinary services.

Once you have a site up and running, you need to get a list of affiliate companies that will give you their advertising banners. There are loads of companies on the net that will help you. You can also get performance statistics on them as well. You will be able to track how much you will earn and how you will be paid.

Two companies that are incredibly popular are commission junction and link share. These will both help you find affiliates for your website. They have loads of good, accurate information available on what companies would be best and how well they perform.

Computer Security Software

Computer protection software assists you in detecting unwanted utilization of your PC and exploitation of personal information. The info pulled out by unjust methods can be made use of to the hackers advantage and might give rise to enormous financial and privacy loss. These people will aim for the computer processor, hard disk area and also the Internet connection. They will contaminate as much of computers as they possibly can by distributing devastating viruses.

Corporations for instance Microsoft used up lots of resources and money to come about with affordable and effective computer protection software. Such types of software programs detect and prevent the wrong usage of the computer. Precautionary software holds back hackers from getting access to personal information, whereas detection software assists you in detecting any harm done by means of the obtrusive virus. In the present state of affairs, where we make use of computers in more or less every important activity like chatting, purchasing and investing, it has turned out to be of essence for us to get our computer protection software up to date on a regular basis.

You might think about yourself to be not sufficiently rich or important for hackers to select you as their victim, however these people might not be interested in your info in the end. They might make use of your computer to intrude into other systems. Making use of your phony identity they might make use of your email to get inside other high profile computer systems for instance government records or banks.

An apparently safe doing for instance playing a game of poker on the Internet might let these hackers get on to your computers trail. It is not at all a very pleasant notion that each and every one of your moves on the computer is being monitored closely; as a result it is desirable to acquire computer protection software.

Download or purchase the anti-virus items, which will give security for your computers. You will need to set up the most recent software, given that new viruses are being put up on the Internet on a daily basis.

Spyware - Adware - Scumware, The "Hezbollah" of the Computing World!

Yes, the world of computing has it's own "Hezbollah", called Spyware, Maleware, and Scumware. Like the terrorist group among civilians, these programs "hide" among legitimate downloads and upgrades you make on a daily basis. If you are connected to the internet you have been exposed to, and almost certainly already have, a Hezbollah/Spyware/Maleware/Scumware program living right along side one of your favorite programs as we speak! These programs are almost as hard to get rid of as the Hezbollah and not nearly as nice.

I wrote this article out of shear frustration!! Having just finished (I Hope) the removal of the last remnant of a particularly bad Spyware infection. It started when I decided to take a look at a "music" download service - you know the type - the kind that let you "download all you want!" I downloaded something all right. First came the popups - I couldn't close them fast enough, then I noticed my home page was NOT Google Search anymore but some God awful Male Enhancement site, then came the emails - sex sites, gambling sites, advertisements of all shape, size, and color and did I say SEX sites - I had no idea how many males suffer from small.... well you get the picture. I then noticed my computer had become soooooo....slooooow... it would churn and churn as the Male Enhancement ads and the Viagra ads - just kept coming!

I NEEDED HELP and NOW!!

The more I read about the culprits Spyware - Malware and Scumware as they have been affectionately called the more I began to worry - these guys were SERIOUS about their mischief! I tried all the free softwares I could find to get rid of them but even after I rebooted the little devils reinstalled themselves. I knew I was in over my head and the enemy was very very good at their craft, I even had one Spyware "killer" program that installed it's own Malware on my system and sent me to a site to "Buy" the only fix for the Problem - UNBELIEVABLE!!

Why Do I Feel Like Somebody's Watching Me?

Spyware is one of the fastest-growing Internet threats. According to the National Cyber Security Alliance, Spyware infects more than 90% of all PCs today. These unobtrusive yet malicious programs are designed to silently bypass firewalls and anti-virus software without the user's knowledge. Once embedded in a computer, they can wreak havoc on the system's performance while gathering your personal information. Fortunately, unlike viruses and worms, spyware programs do not usually self-replicate.

Where do they come from?

Typically, Spyware originates in three ways. The first and most common way is when the user installs it. In this scenario, spyware is embedded, attached, or bundled with a freeware or shareware program without the user's knowledge. The user downloads the program to their computer. Once downloaded, the Spyware program goes to work collecting data for the spyware author's personal use or to sell to a third-party. Beware of many P2P file-sharing programs. They are notorious for downloads that possess spyware programs.

The user of a downloadable program should also pay extra attention to the accompanying licensing agreement. Often the software publisher will warn the user that a Spyware program will be installed along with the requested program. Unfortunately, we do not always take the time to read the fine print. Some agreements may provide special "opt-out" boxes that the user can click to stop the spyware from being included in the download. Be sure to review the document before signing off on the download.

Another way that Spyware can access your computer is by tricking you into manipulating the security features designed to prevent any unwanted installations. The Internet Explorer Web browser was designed not to allow websites to start any unwanted downloads. That is why the user has to initiate a download by clicking on a link. These links can prove deceptive. For example, a pop-up modeled after a standard Windows dialog box, may appear on your screen. The message may ask you if you would like to optimize your Internet access. It provides yes or no answer buttons, but, no matter which button you push, a download containing the Spyware program will commence. Newer versions of Internet Explorer are now making this Spyware pathway a little more difficult.

Finally, some Spyware applications infect a system by attacking security holes in the Web browser or other software. When the user navigates a webpage controlled by a Spyware author, the page contains code designed to attack the browser, and force the installation of the Spyware program.

What can Spyware programs do?

Spyware programs can accomplish a multitude of malicious tasks. Some of their deeds are simply annoying for the user; others can become downright aggressive in nature.

Spyware can:
1. Monitor your keystrokes for reporting purposes.
2. Scan files located on your hard drive.
3. Snoop through applications on your desktop.
4. Install other Spyware programs into your computer.
5. Read your cookies.
6. Steal credit card numbers, passwords, and other personal information.
7. Change the default settings on your home page web browser.
8. Mutate into a second generation of Spyware thus making it more difficult to eradicate.
9. Cause your computer to run slower.
10. Deliver annoying pop up advertisements.
11. Add advertising links to web pages for which the author does not get paid. Instead, payment is directed to the Spyware programmer that changed the original affiliate's settings.
12. Provide the user with no uninstall option and places itself in unexpected or hidden places within your computer making it difficult to remove.

Spyware Examples

Here are a few examples of commonly seen Spyware programs. Please note that while researchers will often give names to Spyware programs, they may not match the names the Spyware-writers use.

CoolWebSearch, a group of programs, that install through "holes" found in Internet Explorer. These programs direct traffic to advertisements on Web sites including coolwebsearch.com. This Spyware nuisance displays pop-up ads, rewrites search engine results, and alters the computer host file to direct the Domain Name System (DNS) to lookup preselected sites.

Internet Optimizer (a/k/a DyFuCa), likes to redirect Internet Explorer error pages to advertisements. When the user follows the broken link or enters an erroneous URL, a page of advertisements pop up.

180 Solutions reports extensive information to advertisers about the Web sites that you visit. It also alters HTTP requests for affiliate advertisements linked from a Web site. Therefore the 180 Solutions Company makes an unearned profit off of the click through advertisements they've altered.

HuntBar (a/k/a WinTools) or Adware.Websearch, is distributed by Traffic Syndicate and is installed by ActiveX drive-by downloading at affiliate websites or by advertisements displayed by other spyware programs. It's a prime example of how spyware can install more spyware. These programs will add toolbars to Internet Explorer, track Web browsing behavior, and display advertisements.

How can I prevent Spyware?

There are a couple things you can do to prevent Spyware from infecting your computer system. First, invest in a reliable commercial anti-spyware program. There are several currently on the market including stand alone software packages such as Lavasoft's Ad-Aware or Windows Antispyware. Other options provide the anti-spyware software as part of an anti-virus package. This type of option is offered by companies such as Sophos, Symantec, and McAfee. Anti-spyware programs can combat spyware by providing real-time protection, scanning, and removal of any found Spyware software. As with most programs, update your anti virus software frequently. As discussed, the Internet Explorer (IE) is often a contributor to the Spyware problem because Spyware programs like to attach themselves to its functionality. Spyware enjoys penetrating the IE's weaknesses. Because of this, many users have switched to non-IE browsers. However, if you prefer to stick with Internet Explorer, be sure to update the security patches regularly, and only download programs from reputable sources. This will help reduce your chances of a Spyware infiltration.

And, when all else fails?

Finally, if your computer has been infected with a large number of Spyware programs, the only solution you may have is backing up your data, and performing a complete reinstall of the operating system.

DO NOT take the Spyware threat lightly.

It is, in my opinion, much more insidious and sneaky than the plain old Virus that most Virus software can handle. Take it from me after nearly 48 hours of trying to cleanse my system of this "stuff," - I will not be without an effective and Guaranteed method of removal again.

Healthy Eating, Healthy Breasts

Healthy Eating, Healthy Breasts

Eating for healthy breasts is easy and delicious. It is not about sacrifice or giving up burgers and ice cream; it's about discovering new foods and new ways to prepare old favorites. It's about having more energy, feeling better about yourself, and having more control over your health. Basically, it's about improving the quality of your life, for the rest of your life.

Make no mistake: No single diet, food, or supplement can guarantee you won't get cancer. But if you eat a combination of foods that have been shown to prevent cancer and promote health, you can reduce your risk by at least one-third, and more if you follow other healthy habits.

Fortunately there are many different types of cancer preventive foods available perhaps more than you dreamed. Chances are you're already eating some of them, but you may not recognize them when you look at the food on your plate. Are there avocados and fresh spinach under that blue cheese dressing? Are vitamin-rich onions hiding under that fried batter? Can you detect protein-rich low-fat beans swimming in that beef-laden chili? This step will help you gain a new perspective on healthy foods and expand your culinary horizons.

What We Know About Healthy Eating

The Controversy

Although scores of studies have been done, researchers do not have many definitive answers about the role of foods and nutrients in the prevention of cancer. Many nutritional experts believe, however, that a significant number of Nature's compounds, including vitamins minerals, and phytochemicals, help fight cancer. But it has been difficult to measure the actions of these substances because there are so many variables to consider when analyzing the impact of foods and nutrients in humans. That's why the information in this chapter has been culled from the latest and most respected sources, including the American Institute for Cancer Research and the American

Dietetic Association.

The American Institute for Cancer Research

To make it easy for you to put together your healthy eating plan, here are the recommendations put forth by the American Institute for Cancer Research's Program for Cancer Prevention -t Food, Nutrition and the which are explained in detail in its report ,Prevention of Cancer: A Global Perspective, These recommendations are the foundation upon which the dietary suggestions in this chapter are based. Although you won't see any radical ideas here, they are universal and the result of years of solid research:

Choose foods that leave undergone little or no processing ( avoid canned, freeze-dried, and frozen foods and foods containing chemical preservatives colorings, and favorings).

The majority or all your food choices should come from the plant kingdom, which includes fruits, vegetables, legumes, rice, soy foods, whole grains, and foods made from whole grains (and not white, bleached floor), such as pasta, breads and cereals.

Eat at least five servings of fruits and vegetables every day.

Eat at least seven serving of whole grains, legumes, roots, plantains, and tubers every day.

Afraid red meat. If you do include animal protein, limit it to no more than 3 ounces per day and choose fish or chicken without skin. Animal protein should be baked, steamed , broiled, or poached, do not add fat when cooking.

Limit consumption of dairy products ( low-fat and no-fat are better, but they may still contain toxins) and other fatty foods. The healthiest oils are olive, flaxseed, and nut. These vegetable oils should be used in moderation and never heated.

If you drink alcohol , limit your intake to one drink per day.

Armed with this basic outline, along with the warning to avoid sugar and caffeine, you are now ready to look at these foods and the healthy substances they contain.

Carnival Fantasy - Great for a Quick Getaway

The Carnival Fantasy is a great ship for first timers. It is usually scheduled for 3 or 4 day trips out of Port Canaveral or other south Florida embarkation ports. It is an ideal way to get your feet wet so to speak and see if you would like cruising. (Of course my personal opinion is that if you don't like cruising you should see a doctor ASAP as there is something wrong with you-but I digress) It is easy to extend a Disney or other south Florida vacation by adding on the extra couple days on one of these short trips.

This ship (Carnival Fantasy) is not for cruise aficionados. I don't have to repeat that do I? Do not go on this ship if you have been on multiple cruise vacations. I have noticed that the more ships people go on the more they become "cruise snobs"-nit picking about everything.

The Carnival Fantasy is about 70,000 tons. It is a perfect size. Not so big that you have to line up for everything and not so small that you feel motion on the ocean. The Fantasy is the first in this class of ships of which there are ten.

The Good

As per usual on a cruise ship the service is excellent. There are often many trainees learning the ropes on shorter duration cruises but the standards are pretty much the same. The menus are the same across the board on all Carnival ships-yummy. There is one night for lobster and yes you can have more than one. Food always tastes better when served by tuxedo clad waiters. For that matter you can order more than one entree or any other menu item you like.

If you can stand to have more than two people in your cabin (185 sq ft for a standard cabin) you can save money. The third and fourth person rates are usually about half that of the first two people. The extra people sleep in murphy beds that pull down from the wall. During the day these are secured to the wall giving you extra space. Having said that the last time we booked a triple cabin my travelling companions called it the penalty box because of the number of times we body checked each other during the course of getting ready to go out.

The Cat's lounge is a must see on this ship. Everything is laid out as a cat would see it really really big. Cleopatra's bar features an Egyptian theme in a piano bar setting-way cool.

The bad

The Carnival Fantasy is showing her age in spite of last years refurbishment. Most notably in the teak deck boards that you can spring up and down on.

On all Carnival cruises (including the Fantasy) your tips are already added to your shipboard account when you get on. To remove them you have to stand in line behind 2500 people at the pursers deck . Since the service is worth at least what they recommend that you tip I suggest that you just leave them on. Unless you really like handed out the envelopes with the tips in person.

The Ugly

The Carnival Fantasy has a childrens program called Camp Carnival. I have sailed on this ship 3 times and have used the services of Camp Carnival all three times. Although not all three were aboard the Carnival Fantasy. The first two times all went well. My son loved it all. The last time the staff at Camp Carnival (Fantasy) were the worst I have ever seen. Suffice it to say you are better off leaving your child with a steak tied around his neck in a lions den than with the staff on the Fantasy.

On the cheap

If you want to go on the Carnival Fantasy cheaply, go in the off season ie September or October for the biggest savings. Book far ahead or if you don't have to worry about fluctuating airfare book less than a month away.

Take a taxi to the beach from the Carnival Fantasy instead of joining up with the ships excursion of "beach party" .

Eat on the ship (the Carnival Fantasy has some of the best food at sea), instead of on each island ie come back for lunch . Or just have a big breaky so you won't be hungry while you are off the ship.

Book a guarantee cabin ie you are guaranteed that category of cabin or better just not a specific cabin. YOu will often be upgraded this way and will always sail cheaper.

Note: Between my brother and I we have cruised on the Carnival Fantasy 7 times now. Its short iternerary makes it ideal for a long weekend getaway, or to accompany a Disney vacation.
